The Android distribution statistics for April 2015 are in. Android Lollipop 5.x now runs on about 10% of smartphones that access the Google Play Store.
The Android 5.x Lollipop distribution figure is an impressive improvement from the 3.3% market share that it held a month ago. Android 4.1.x Jelly Bean and Android 4.4 Kitkat still own the lion’s share of the pie, with a cumulative distribution figure of 79%.
The market share of the two versions of Android is, however, gradually decreasing as more Smartphones running Android Lollipop 5. x hit the market.
Android 2.3.x Gingerbread and Android 4.0.x Ice Cream Sandwich, the two outdated versions of Android, still own 11% of the Android distribution pie.
It is, however, great to report that Android 2.2 Froyo currently has a 0.3% share and is edging closer to extinction.
