A recent report by Crittercism, a performance management company, made public some startling performance stats about the iOS and the Android OS. The Crittercism benchmark report revealed that iDevices running the iOS 7.1 have a crash rate that is higher than devices running Android 4.0x.

This is an interesting find owing to the fact that the stability of the iOS is one of the highlight features of the operating system. Crittercism sampled over a billion Android and iOS devices to come up with the findings.

The iOS 7.1 reported a 1.6% crash rate while the Android OS 4.0x had a 0.7% crash rate. This loosely translates to two App crashes on the iOS 7.1 for every App crash on Android 4.0x. It also came up that iOS 7.1 receives more bug fixes compared to the Android OS 4.0x.

It doesn’t stop there, the study also went further to reveal that Android 2.0x is actually more stable that iOS 7. Android 2.0x has a 1.7% crash rate while iOS 7 reported a 2.1% crash rate. This is almost hard to believe due to the numerous inherent bugs and performance issues of the Gingerbread OS. But, numbers do not lie.

On the Apps Arena, the Google Analytics App has the best response and error rates while Facebook and Twitter applications were some of the worst apps.
