Chinese Consortium wants to buy Opera (Browser Company)

A consortium of some of the largest Chinese Tech Companies wants to buy Opera, a popular browser company.

Opera is one of the largest web browser company and its Opera Mobile and Mini browsers are popular among smartphone users.


The consortium that includes Qihoo360 (anti-virus maker) and Kunlun (Mobile Developer) has a provided a buyout offer of $1.2 Billion.

There is a strong likelihood Opera would accept the offer considering that the offer rumored to be 53% more than Opera Market value.

Opera is one of the market leaders when it comes to web content compression and its acquisition by the consortium brings forth some significant strategic advantages.
