Instant loan apps dominated the January 2019 list of the most popular apps in Kenya.
This is according to the latest ranking by App Annie, an app analytics company. Okash leads the pack and is ranked the most popular Android App in Kenya.
Other instant loan apps that made it to the list include Tala (#3), Branch (#5) and Fadhili (#7). This comes as no surprise as the apps started dominating the list as early as 2017.
It is interesting to note that Okash has outrank WhatsApp (#2), which is arguably the most popular instant messaging app on the planet.
The other entries to the list include Facebook Lite (#4), Viusasa (#6), Xender (#8), Opera Mini (#9) and Facebook Messenger (#10).
However, it’s a totally different story when you shift of the iOS platform. It’s only Timiza that makes it to the top 10 list where it’s ranked #10.
Well, it’s not a mystery why this is so especially when you consider that most iOS devices have a premium price tag and thus often attract the high-income segment of the market.
