Nokia offers the best software support for Android smartphones. This is according to a recently released Counterpoint white paper.
The paper revealed that almost 96% of Nokia smartphones run Android Pie or have received an Android Pie update.
This came as no shock since Nokia is one of the few vendors that cares enough to push software updates to its budget smartphones.
Case in point, Nokia seeded the Android Pie update to Nokia 3, a smartphone that launched in 2017.
Samsung, Xiaomi and Huawei are some of the other vendors that have more than 80% of their smartphones running Android Pie.
TECNO Mobile on the other hand ranked poorly on the list. The smartphone vendor has just 5% of its devices running Android Pie, which is quite disappointing.
TECNO Mobile has historically not prioritized software support as one of the unique selling points of it devices. Case in point, the insanely popular TECNO Pouvoir 3 runs Android 8.1 out of the box.
There is a strong probability that TECNO Mobile serves a segment that doesn’t really know/care about running the latest version of the Android OS.
Software support is increasingly become a key influence when deciding which smartphone to buy.
In addition to the obvious security advantages of running the latest software, software support ensures consumers squeeze the maximum utility out of their devices.
