Tech forums were previously awash with rumors that Samsung Mobile will be releasing an over the air KitKat 4.4 update for their devices. Sammobile, a popular Smartphone Blog, got hold of the official document detailing the update schedule for a number of Samsung Smartphones.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 will be the oldest device in the list to get the KitKat treatment. There is, however, an issue with the firmware update for the Galaxy S3 partly due to a couple of Touch Wiz bugs.
In addition to that, unconfirmed reports suggest that Google was against the updating of the S3 to Kitkat citing that the device ‘was less than 18 months old when Android 4.4 was released’.
Samsung is therefore yet to release the ETA of the Galaxy S3 firmware update. Other devices that Samsung intends to push the KitKat update for, includes the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini.
