Green screen of death; Galaxy S20 screens suddenly start failing with age

It’s not odd for display issues to surface on smartphones. However, if cases emerge from a manufacturer that generally has great reliability, the cases are bound to get more attention.

Several cases regarding the Samsung Galaxy S20 screens dying have been reported and nobody seems to know why and how to fix it. The best solution so far has been replacing the display screen, but that comes at a cost. Especially considering most warranties have already expired.

So, what seems to be the problem? Apparently, disgruntled users have reported seeing the display fail in a rather terrible way, leaving the entire panel with a green tint that does not display any apps or icons. For others, green lines form on the screen across the panel.

Check out the screen in the video below.

The problem first appeared in May and has continued to show up in the months since. As you’d expect, this issue has been raised on Samsung’s official forums.

A moderator suggested booting the device in safe mode and attempting a reset. Apparently, it didn’t help.
