The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is a premium Android smartphone that was launched in February 2022 but has yet to become available in Kenya.
The device is Samsung’s ultimate flagship smartphone and features top-tier specifications and highlights such as a great Dynamic AMOLED display, fast and smooth performance alongside incredible camera technology.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra is the successor to last year’s Galaxy S21 Ultra and 2020’s Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The smartphone is also the first Galaxy S to come with a built-in S pen.

The 6.8 inches Dynamic AMOLED 2X display on the Galaxy S22 Ultra is one of the best screens you’ll find on a phone. However, it is light weighing in at 229 grams. Plus, the curved sides grip nicely when holding the device. The Galaxy S22 Ultra uses an aluminum frame and is one of the first smartphones to use Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both the front and back.

In terms of performance, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is one of the first smartphones to come powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, which is complemented by either 12GB or 16 GB of RAM, that is for those living in the USA, China and India.
Meanwhile, the international variant will come equipped with the Exynos 2200 chipset from Samsung alongside either 8GB or 12GB of RAM.
Either way, this is still one fast Android smartphone. It will easily tear up any performance intensive apps or games you throw at it, without a flinch, simultaneously offering console quality visuals.
It is also one of the first smartphones to come running Android 12 based One UI 4.1 straight out of the box. Unfortunately, while you do get a range of storage options to choose from, Samsung ditched the microSD card slot, so you can’t expand.

Now, software wise, instead of Samsung offering new hardware, the brand decided to improve the portrait mode with AI to produce cleaner results and better background separation for the Galaxy S22 Ultra to deliver a better bokeh effect.
That’s not all, there is also a new feature dubbed Auto Framing. It uses the Ultra wide lens to crop in and adjust the shot for the number of people in the frame.
Apparently, it can track up to 10 people at once and automatically zoom out when more people walk in. You can also manually zoom in or out, and the picture will be framed accordingly. There’s also a night potrait mode and new studio lighting effects have been added
