Twitter DMs is rolling out a new upgrade, now with the ability to pin direct messages to the top of your inbox. Twitter announced the feature on Thursday in a Tweet that shows the functionality on iPhones.

Pinned conversations were only previously exclusive to Twitter Blue subscribers but, will now be available across all users including Android, iOS, and the web.

Here is everything you need to know about it and, how it works.

How to pin a direct message on Twitter

On the iOS app, follow these steps to pin a direct message:

  1. Open the latest version of the Twitter app on your smartphone.
  2. Tap the envelope icon, where you’ll be directed to your messages.
  3. Swipe to the side of a conversation in your inbox to reveal a pin.
  4. Tap the pin, and the conversation will go to a “Pin Conversation” section on top of your inbox.

Meanwhile, on Android, instead of swiping a conversation, you’ll have to press and hold the message you want to save. The “Pin Conversation” option will appear above other options.

And lastly, on the web, the option will appear via the three-dot menu when you hover over a conversation in your inbox.

You can pin up to six conversations, which will be sectioned from the rest. Pins are a useful way to keep a handful of conversations easily accessible, especially for users who get tons of DMs regularly.

And now that pins are rolling out more widely, there are two features that are currently live under Twitter’s Blue exclusive Labs label; longer video uploads and NFT profile pictures. However, it’s still uncertain whether the extended videos and NFT profile pictures will also make it beyond the paywall.
