The Infinix Note 12 VIP and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro are some of the newest mid-range smartphones to be launched in Kenya in 2022.

The Note 12 VIP arrived the market in May and provides some extraordinary upgrades including a series first 120W fast-charging and a 108MP main camera.

The Note 11 Pro, on the other hand, was released sometime in February. After the success of the Redmi Note 10 Pro, Xiaomi crafted the Note 11 Pro to build on the brand’s excellent lineup. It still maintains a large smooth display, good battery life, and fast charging.

Today, we’ll be doing a comparison of the two devices to find out which is better in specs, performance, and more importantly, value for money.

Unique Selling Proposition

Both smartphones have almost the same unique selling propositions. They both have large displays with high refresh rates, immensely good cameras, and standard battery lives that support fast charging. The only difference is the Note 12 VIP features higher fast charging compared to the Redmi Note 11 Pro.

Technical Profile Comparison

When it comes to matters of design, it all depends on the beholder. While you might consider one design to be better looking, another person might fail to see why you do so.

Although, in this case, I strongly believe the Note 12 VIP is the winner. Contrary to the plastic build present on the Redmi Note 11 Pro, the Infinix Note 12 VIP brings aerospace-grade glass fiber material that feels more premium and tough.

In terms of the display, we appear to be in what we call a stalemate. Both smartphones come with the same display size, type, resolution, and refresh rate. The positioning of the selfie camera is also identical- centered punch hole.

A clear victor here may be uncertain. However, one thing is for sure, both displays are bright and vibrant, offering great visuals specially suited to people who need a media player from their phones.

On the camera front, Both the Note 12 VIP and Redmi Note 11 Pro pack a 108MP main camera, 2MP depth sensor, and a 16MP selfie camera. They do although, have different ultra-wides – 13MP on the Note 12 VIP and 8MP on the Redmi Note 11 Pro.

It’s a small gap so image quality isn’t all that different. Shooting modes also go beyond the standard photo for both devices with portrait, Night, Pro, slow motion, and time-lapse modes. Same as the display, it’s a draw where the camera is concerned.

Performance

The Infinix Note 12 VIP comes equipped with MediaTek’s Helio G96 while the Redmi Note 11 Pro sports the Snapdragon 695 chipset.

They may not be the mightiest phones in their segment with these chipsets, but with an ample 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, they still have some flagship-grade numbers in the mix.

Gaming and processor-intensive tasks run smoothly on both devices with little to no lag at all. However, I wish Xiaomi would have given the Redmi Note 11 Pro Android 12 instead of Android 11.

This little disparity added to the various tools and engines equipped by Infinix in the Note 12 VIP makes it the better candidate in terms of performance.

Battery

Battery CapacityLi-Po 4500 mAhLi-Po 5000 mAh
Charging Speed120w67w

On the capacity side of things, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro packs a 5000mAh battery while the Note 12 VIP packs a lesser 4500mAh battery. Nonetheless, it does support a faster 120W fast charging compared to the Note 11 Pro’s 67W fast charging.

In a world where people don’t want to take a lot of time charging their smartphones and disregard battery capacities, the Infinix Note 12 VIP reigns dominant. Besides, 4500mAh is enough to last a day or two on moderate usage.

Commentary

These two mid-rangers are fantastic devices and on paper, they are equally formidable to each other.

While the Redmi Note 11 Pro offers a good value for price ratio, the Note 12 VIP is slightly better in terms of design, performance, and charging speed. Taking all these into consideration, the Note 12 VIP is the best buy if you are willing to break the bank.

However, if you are feeling the pinch and still need a reliable, good-looking device, then the Redmi Note 11 Pro is for you.
