The Microsoft Lumia 640 is a budget Windows Phone Smartphone that MS launched in March 2015.

The Lumia 640 is an upgrade from the Nokia Lumia 630 and it features some significant improvements in terms of hardware and software upgrades.

Microsoft also upped the resolution from the 480 x 854 pixels on the 630 to a 720 x 1280 pixels resolution on the 640.

The Lumia 640 display is, therefore, crisp and vibrant, which is often an elusive affair for devices in its price range.

Microsoft did some slight rework with the design of the Lumia 640. The navigation keys at the bottom are now gone and all we have is the Microsoft Logo at the upper bezel and another one placed vertically on the rear cover.

This was a rather expected move as Microsoft is active in eliminating the plethora of ‘low-memory’ devices that populate the Windows Phone Store.

4G LTE is one of the highlighted features of the Lumia 640. 4G connectivity is now available in Kenya, and Safaricom is active in its course of making high-speed internet connectivity accessible to the masses.

Everything else about the performance profile of the Lumia 640 is okay and is what you might expect from a typical Lumia device in its price range.
