The Samsung Galaxy J5 is a recently launched mid-range smartphone and is the successor of the Galaxy J1.
The Galaxy J5 features some decent technical specifications and a handful of flagship grade features that gives the smartphone an upper hand over its competitors.
Here is what the Galaxy J5 has to offer.
Samsung Galaxy J5 Technical Specifications
Display
Display Size: 5.0 inches
Display Type: Super AMOLED
Screen Resolution: 720 x 1280 pixels
Screen Resolution Density: 294 ppi
Screen Protection: None
The Samsung Galaxy J5 features a 5.0-inch display, a slight upgrade from the 4.3-inch display you will find on the Galaxy J1. In addition to this, the Galaxy J5 has a 720p HD Super AMOLED display.
This is kind of a big deal as often AMOLED technology can make any display look good. You should check out an article I wrote that highlights the merits that an AMOLED display has over an LCD display.
A 720p display is now pretty much the standard for mid-range smartphone and I am of the opinion that the AMOLED display technology is what gives the J5 and an edge over its rivals.
Design
Frame Dimensions: 142.1 x 71.8 x 7.9 mm
Weight: 146 g
The Samsung Galaxy J5 features a chrome-like rim that graces the edges of the smartphone. The Galaxy J5 has a polycarbonate construction, but Samsung did an excellent job at giving the smartphone a premium look and feel.
The Samsung Galaxy J5 looks a lot like a large Galaxy J1 but there are a couple of design adjustments that make the smartphone slightly better.
For starters, conspicuously on the top right corner you will find an LED flash. This is the first time that a Samsung smartphone has a front facing camera and it is very interesting that the feature made its debut via the Galaxy J5.
Also, most of Samsung smartphones I have encountered have their 3.5 mm earphone port at the top. But with the Galaxy J5, the earphone ports is at the bottom, just besides the charging port.
Performance

CPU: Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53

A Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 powers the Samsung Galaxy J5 and this is coupled with some 1.5 GB RAM. This is a great profile and an impressive improvement from what you will find on the Galaxy J1.
What is, however, interesting to note is that the Samsung Galaxy J5 runs Android OS, v5. 1 (Lollipop). This is a big deal. Various tests have shown that Android OS, v5.1 has some excellent battery management properties and this is one of the core feature that gives the Galaxy J5 an admirable battery stamina.
Other than that, you will get 5/16 GB for your files, as well as a MicroSD that can handle up to 128 GB of memory.
