Equity Group Holdings Ltd will officially unveil the Equitel Thin SIM today. The talk of the group launching its Thin SIM technology has been rather controversial and the roll out had been barred by the High Court of Kenya.
The court has, however, now lifted the order and the company now has the green light to begin the roll out of the technology to the masses.
Over 200,000 thousand users have been actively using the Equitel service while it was in its pilot phase. The lifting of the ban therefore, the missing piece required to allow the full roll out of the service.
Equitel is expected to disrupt the grand mobile money transfer industry in the Kenya by drastically decreasing the cost of sending cash.
