The Infinix 2 X510 is the smartphone cherry picked by Google to become the first Android One Smartphone in Africa.

The choice of the Smartphone was a perfect move taking into account that Infinix was among the first companies to offer high-quality Android smartphones at prices that most in Africa can afford.

The Infinix 2 X510 is pretty much exciting and I could talk about the smartphone all day, but there will be a lengthy blog post for that.

That said, here is that the Infinix 2 X510 has to offer.

The Infinix 2 X510 is an upgrade of the Infinix X501 and I will be using the X501 as a reference point.

The Infinix 2 X510 has one of the best design concepts that you will find on a budget smartphone. You get a candy bar design with smooth round corners and thick bezels at the top and the bottom.

The design is quite striking and this makes the smartphone look more expensive than it really costs. This is impressive considering that most budget smartphone struggle to deliver a premium look and feel.

The Infinix 2 X510 boasts of a 1.3GHz Quad-Core and 1 GB RAM. There is also a variant that sports some 2GB RAM.

The prime focus of the Infinix 2 X510 is not the hardware, but rather on the software. The Smartphone being part of the Android One program means that it runs an almost stock version of Android.

Let me explain a bit.

The Android OS is an open source software and thus Google has a few limitations on how smartphone manufacturers can customize it. This is the prime reason why the Android OS running on a Samsung device will be very different from what runs on an Infinix Smartphone.

The Android OS is fairly lightweight but the extra customizations done by manufacturers is what makes the OS appear heavy.

Therefore, with Google in charge of the operating system path, you get the native Android 5.1 experience and most importantly, timely updates of the OS since they are seeded directly from Google servers.

Apart from that, you get 16 GB for your files and a Micro SD slot.

The Android One Program has been fairly successful in the market that it launched. It was, therefore, obvious that Google would roll out the program in Africa, the region that badly needs decent affordable smartphones.

I have no doubt that the Infinix 2 will be a hit program in Kenya. The two previous smartphones that Infinix has launched in Kenya have been massive success in Kenyan.
