The Infinix Note 5 is one of the latest mid-range smartphone to recently launch. The Note 5 launched about two weeks ago in Dubai and are fortunate enough to have a review unit with us.
So, what’s Note 5 hype all about?
Well, the Note 5 is part of Google Android One program. It’s the first smartphone from the Note series to be part of the program, the last one was the Infinix Hot 2.
The phone is part of Android One means that you get to experience pure Android while balling on a budget. Android 8.1 runs really well on the Note 5. You will particularly love the experience if you are an Android aficionado.

First Impressions
The packaging of the Infinix Note 5 is awesome. It’s minimalist and gives you an impression of value even before you unbox the smartphone.
The phone is gorgeous. The first thing you will probably notice after unboxing the phone is the display. The smartphone comes with a 6.0-inch 18:9 display. The display is quite good and a definite improvement from the Note 4.
Infinix did a great job with the display profile of the Note 5. It gives the smartphone a premium look and feel something that if often elusive on budget smartphone.
The software is also great. I was impressed with the speed of booting. Normally, you have to wait a couple of minutes for a new smartphone to boot until you are able to use it. It was different with the Note 5, the phone was ready in record time, thanks to the lean software that runs on it.
Also, I got a notification for firmware update as soon as I connected to the internet. I believe that the update is an indication of many more to come.
The downside of the smartphone, however, is that the rear cover is glossy and hence is a fingerprint magnet. You therefore have to use a cover to keep the smartphone neat.
So far so good, I’m still playing with the Note 5 and expect a full review in the coming days.
