WhatsApp has added an extra layer of protection to its iOS app by introducing a Face and Touch ID authentication feature.
Once activated, you will be required to use Face or Touch ID in order to gain access to WhatsApp. You will still be required to do so even if the phone is unlocked.
However, users will still be able to view notifications of incoming messages, if the user has activated the notification feature. If interested are interested in the feature head to Settings > Account > Privacy > Enable Screen Lock.
The Face and Touch ID authentication feature is currently exclusively available on iOS devices. The feature is, however, likely to trickle down to Android smartphones in the coming weeks.
