A recent report has revealed that Micromax, a leading Indian Smartphone vendor, has dethroned Samsung to become the leading Smartphone brand in the country.
The report by Canalys, a market research firm, points to Micromax owning 22% of the Indian Smartphone market with Samsung enjoying a 20% market share.
The figures are based on a survey that was carried out in Q4 2014.
Micromax had in fact already beaten the South Korean based Tech Giant as the leading vendor of all types of mobile phones i.e. both Smart and Feature Phones.
It was, therefore, just a matter of time before Samsung lost the top spot to the local brand.
The news comes months after Samsung was also dethroned as the top smartphone brand in China.
