The Microsoft Lumia 532 is a recently launched budget Windows Phone device that is an upgrade of the Nokia Lumia 530.

The Lumia 532 is the second Smartphone after the Lumia 535 to sport the Microsoft Logo. The smartphone is part of Microsoft’s strategy to offer the Lumia experience to the masses at an affordable price.

The Microsoft Lumia 532 features a 4-Inch display, which is the same as what you will find on the Lumia 530. However, MS replaced the Full VGA display on the 530 with a Wide Full VGA on the 532.

This led to a screen resolution density drop of about 13 units. This is a rather insignificant drop and you will hardly notice the difference when comparing the two displays.

The Lumia 532 features the generic Lumia bold candy bar look. It does, however, sport some rather sharp corners as opposed to the well-rounded ones you will find on the Lumia 530.

Microsoft cherry-picked a 1.2 GHz Quad-core CPU to power the Lumia 532. Microsoft has shown a particular preference for the Qualcomm Snapdragon™ 200 CPU as it is the same kind of CPU that powers both the Lumia 532 and Lumia 535.

It is, however, awesome that MS bumped up the RAM from the 512 MB found on the Lumia 530 to 1 GB on the Lumia 532. The Microsoft Lumia 532 also comes with 8 GB internal memory which is double what you find on its predecessor.

Most had expected that Microsoft would have been generous enough to bless the Lumia 532 with a fancy selfie camera. However, it appears that MS had its priority elsewhere as you only get a 0.3 MP VGA camera for your self-shots.

Verdict

The Microsoft Lumia 532 is clearly a hybrid sired by the Lumia 530 and the Lumia 535. The Lumia 532 is in fact the first device that seems to bridge the Nokia and the Microsoft brand.

Microsoft was, however, cautious not throw in all the fancy features in order to keep the Lumia 532 well within the budget range.

The Lumia 532 is, therefore, kind of the perfect alternative of the Lumia 535. It offers much of the Lumia 535 experience such as powerful specs and up to date software in a smaller and affordable frame.

The Microsoft Lumia 532 will just like the Lumia 520 be a massive hit in emerging smartphone markets such as Kenya.
