Microsoft kicked off its Build developer conference yesterday and while there was a ton of news regarding announcements around various products, the Redmond giant didn’t talk about its big Window plans.
And that’s because the company is preparing to detail what’s next for its PC OS system separately. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said his company is planning “one of the most significant updates of Windows of the past decade.”
“I’ve been using it over the past several months and I’m incredibly excited about the next generation of Windows,” he said.
Calling it one of the most significant updates is a bold claim, considering Windows 8 and Windows 10 were both launched in the last decade. Regardless of the success or failure of Windows 8, it’s undeniable that it was a major update with a complete UI and UX overhaul.

This teaser comes just one week after Microsoft confirmed it was ending development on Windows 10X, which was a slimmed-down version of its OS designed for dual screens. Microsoft said it would be integrating elements of the 10X to Windows 10.
All in all, if you’re a Windows fan, you might want to stay tuned because some big things are about to happen. After all, it’s the next generation of Windows.
We are still curious whether they’ll choose to go with Windows 10 with visual overhaul or Windows 11, we’ll just have to wait and find out. Microsoft will be sharing more soon.
