Well, Nielsen, a Media Research company, has ranked the top smartphone applications of 2015 and to no surprise, Google owns 50% percent of applications on the list.
The Facebook Application is according to the Nielsen Rankings the most popular smartphone application of 2015 and the app was able to reach a massive audience of more than 126 million unique users.
Facebook Messenger comes a close third while Instagram, another Facebook-owned application that made it to the list, ranks at #8.

The YouTube is the most popular Google-owned application and had an audience of close to 97 Million unique users. Google Search is next #4, Google Play #5, Google Maps #6 and Gmail #7.
Apple-owned applications also made it to the list with Music ranked #9, while Apple Maps being the 10th most popular smartphone application of 2015.
