OPPO is reportedly working on a smartphone that has an under-display camera. This is according to a tweet by Ben Geskin, a tipster and concept designer.
If the information proves to be accurate, OPPO would have solved what has been for a while one of the biggest design challenge for smartphone manufacturers.
Remember, it’s the placement of the selfie camera that has otherwise hindered the development of devices with a true full-screen experience.
It’s also the placement that has led to notches becoming a design feature as well as fueling the rather unnecessary craze behind pop-up selfie cameras.
It was widely expected that smartphone manufacturers will be able to nail the tech behind placing a camera under display since we already have devices that have under-display finger print sensors such as the Samsung Galaxy S10+.
OPPO is expected to launch the device with the under-display camera before the end of the 2019. It’s likely that the feature will be included in a soon to be launched premium smartphone.
We should expect the feature to trickle down to other smartphones, since that is what normally happens. Meanwhile, check out OPPO’s latest smartphone in Kenya, the OPPO F11 Pro.
