A recent research report by Counterpoint Research points to Samsung, Huawei and TECNO dominating the African smartphone market.
The report revealed that 25% of smartphones shipped to Africa and the Middle East region were Samsung devices, 11% were from Huawei while TECNO shipped 9% in Q3 2018.
Another notable vendor in the list is itel. 8% of devices shipped the region were itel smartphones. TECNO and itel belong to the same mother company i.e TRANSSION. Therefore, technically 17% of devices shipped to Africa in Q3 2018 were from TRANSSION.
Globally, Samsung and Huawei dominate the smartphone market with a market share of 19% and 14% respectively.
