An Octa-core 1.6 GHz CPU powers the Samsung Galaxy A2 Core. This is coupled with some 1GB of RAM. The performance profile of the Galaxy A2 Core is pretty much entry-level and thus do not expect to run graphic intensive games and applications on the smartphone.
The smartphone is however, likely to run lite versions of social media apps without any hitches.
The software is one of the pain points of the Samsung Galaxy A2 Core. The smartphone runs Android 8.1 Go out of the box. For those not familiar with Android Go, it’s a lite/light version of the Android OS that is designed to run on devices with limited memory (< 1GB).
Android Go normally runs pretty well on such smartphones, but the issue with here is that Android 8.1 Go is fast becoming outdated, and it would have been awesome if the A2 Core ran the more recent Android 9.0 Pie Go, just like the Nokia 1 Plus.
