The Tecno Camon C9 is currently one of the most popular smartphones in Kenya.
The Camon C9 is yet to officially launch in Kenya, but it has already aroused lots of interest especially among smartphone enthusiasts.
The Camon C9 is an upgrade of the Tecno Camon C8 and features some really impressive technical specifications plus an equally awesome design concept. The specifications plus the design combine to make the Tecno Camon C9 to be among the best smartphones you can buy right now.
Here is a brief unboxing and first impressions article that provides an early appeal of what the Tecno Camon C9 has to offer.
Packaging and Design
Tecno Mobile did a fantastic job with the Camon C9 design package. You get a compact black and blue box that provides an early premium appeal even before you unbox the smartphone.
To unbox it you slide over the black box to reveal a blue box that contains the smartphones and its accessories.
What’s in the box?
Inside the Tecno Camon C9 box you will find;
- Tecno Camon C9
- AC Charger
- USB Charger

- Palmchat
- User Guide
- Flip cover
- Warranty Card
- Warranty Shield
First Impressions
The Tecno Camon C9 looks a lot like the Boom J8. I say this specifically because of the svelte design profile, the metallic band that goes around the smartphone plus the sandstone-like back cover.
The unique design feature with the Camon C9 is the radian shaped rear cover that greatly enhances the ergonomics of the smartphone.
Another aspect that is easy to notice is the imposing 13 MP selfie camera that sits strategically at the upper middle section of the display. The Tecno Camon C9 is marketed as a selfie smartphone and thus Tecno placed lots of emphasis on the hardware as well as the software of the front-facing camera.
Here are some of the selfie shots captured by the Tecno Camon C9 selfie camera.
The Tecno Camon C9 display is awesome. You get a 5.5-inch display that is glossy and vibrant. The display boasts of a 1920 x 1080 Pixels Full HD resolution and is the first Tecno Mobile budget smartphone to features such a display.
The Camon C9 has a removable rear cover that gives you access to the Dual SIM slots as well as the Micro-SD card slot. The rear cover mimics a sandstone texture that does a great job at giving the Camon C9 a premium appeal.
My first impressions of the Tecno Camon C9 were generally positive. I liked the smartphone. I liked how it looks and feels in the hand and most importantly, totally enjoyed the selfie camera.
The camera packs loads of features with one of the highlights being the ‘make up a booth’ that provides a number of interesting utilities to edit pictures in order to come up with the best version of yourself.
I am of the opinion, the Tecno Camon C9 will be a hit in Kenya.
I am working on a full review of the smartphone and will publish that soon. Meanwhile, if you have any specific queries about the Tecno Camon C9 that you would wish to be included in the full review, be sure to drop your replies in the comment section below.
