A recent study by PriceSpy, a UK price comparison site, has revealed that the prices of popular smartphones reduce by up to 40% three months after they launch.
Buyers who delay the purchase of their smartphone could achieve significant savings once they wait for the hype around the launch of popular devices from leading smartphone to die down.
The trend of the price drop is evident in Kenya, where for instance the pre-order price of the Samsung Galaxy S9 was Ksh. 99,999 but the price later on dropped to Sh84,999 just a couple of weeks later.
The brands most affected by the trend include Huawei, Samsung and Apple’s iPhone.
However, according to Samsung, competition among retailers is one of the drivers of the price drop trend.
Patience saves.
