A recent tweet by a Nokia (HMD) executive points to the Nokia 2.1, 3.1 and 5.1 receiving the Android 9.0 update before April 2019.

Juho Sarvikas, HMD Chief Product Officer, tweeted the info yesterday and revealed that Nokia is actively working on the updates and the company will remain the fastest vendor to seed software updates to its smartphones.

The news that the three phones will be receiving updates isn’t exactly surprising since the smartphones are all part of Android One and thus there was the guarantee that they will be receiving the next version of the Android operating system.

The news is, however, pretty exciting since most vendors don’t bother much about seeding updates to budget smartphone as often, they prefer to focus their efforts on their premium offering.

Locally, Infinix recently recruited beta testers for the Note 5 Stylus Android Pie update. The news comes a couple of days after features of the upcoming Android Q leaked online.
