The latest news about Redmi’s upcoming flagship smartphone points to the smartphone having a 256GB variant.
The smartphone is codenamed Raphael, but is expected to be officially known as the Redmi K20 Pro.
For those not familiar with the Redmi Brand, here is the lowdown.
I bet that you are familiar with Xiaomi, well Redmi is a sub-brand of Xiaomi that caters for the entry to the mid-range segment of the market. The brand has some decent smartphones with the most popular one (locally) being the Ksh. 5,999 Redmi Go smartphone.
Back to the K20 Pro.
What makes the upcoming K20 Pro interesting is that it’s likely that the smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. Snapdragon 855 is the (2019) holy grail for mobile gamers.
The chipset is designed for flagship smartphones and hence, is one of the most powerful chipsets on the market.
It’s the same chipset that powers the Samsung Galaxy S10+ and also a number of high-performing smartphones.
Redmi is a budget brand and therefore, it’s largely expected that the upcoming flagship smartphone will have a great price tag that will allow the masses access to this chipset.
This is the key reason a lot of people (mostly techies) are interested in the upcoming smartphone.
There isn’t an official date on when the smartphone will become available. However, a date before the end of next month is probable.
