OPPO has announced a mid-range phone in its homeland, China, the OPPO A55 5G. The phone comes with some serious key specs and critics believe it is set to rival the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A32 5G.
The smartphone looks slim and has a sleek design that comes with a 6.5” LCD HD+ display. It supports a 60Hz standard refresh rate and a dewdrop notch for the front camera.
Speaking of cameras, the A55 5G sports a triple rear camera with a 13MP primary sensor. Upfront, an 8MP front camera for selfies and videos.
A MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset is equipped and powers the OPPO A55 5G. The device sports 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage expandable to a massive 1TB via a microSD card slot.
OPPO, like other brand names, has gradually shifted to using MediaTek Dimensity chipsets in their 5G smartphones. It’s understandable since they are a lot cheaper compared to Qualcomm chipsets.
In terms of charging, it packs a 5000mAh battery that might not have fast charging (standard 10W). The silver lining though, the smartphone includes a charger and a USB-C port at the bottom.
The smartphone supports 5G but the user won’t be able to access the 5th Gen internet service. Reason being its not available locally. Safaricom had tested trials but delayed its 5G plans.
Information on when the smartphone is expected to arrive in Kenya is still inadequate. However, the expected price range is about Ksh 25,000 to Ksh 30,000.
