OPPO A98 | Specifications Review

OPPO-A98-Main-image

The OPPO A98 is a mid-range Android smartphone that was spotted on a certification site but has yet to be released. However, it is anticipated that OPPO will release the smartphone in the Kenyan market.

The OPPO A98 is a kind of successor to the A96 (the A97 exists however, it never came to the Kenyan market).

However, just like the A96, the A98 sports a decent technical profile with highlights being on its curved display, high-resolution camera, and great design.

That said, here is what the OPPO A98 has to offer.

Key Specs of the OPPO A98

Display

Display Size: 6.7-inches

Display Type: AMOLED

Screen Resolution: 1080 x 2160 pixels

Screen Resolution Density: 394 ppi

The OPPO A98 sports a curved 6.7-inches AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and an in-display fingerprint scanner. It also supports a 120Hz refresh rate and a 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution.

Design

Dimensions: 162.3 x 74.3 x 7.7 mm

The OPPO A98 is a gorgeous smartphone. It comes with OPPO’s Glow design and looks very similar to the Reno5 on the rear.

However, unlike the Reno5 it sports a dual-ring lens and a dual-camera setup. Upfront, the curved display is also worth noting as it complements the A98’s frame and unibody.

Performance

Operating System: Android 12

CPU: 2.2Ghz Octa-core

RAM: 6/8/12GB

Internal Storage: 128/256/512GB

Micro SD: No

A 2.2Ghz Octa-core processor powers the A98 alongside either 6/8 or a rumored 12GB RAM, which is quite impressive.

In terms of storage, the A98 comes with a massive 512GB memory without a microSD card slot. Although, the configuration is sufficient enough to store all your media files and large apps.

Camera

Rear Camera: 108+2MP

Selfie Camera: 16MP

LED Flash: Yes

The OPPO A98 packs a dual camera system headlined by a 108MP wide and a 2MP depth lens for general photography. Although these are rumored features so it could sport a different setup. For selfies and video calls, you get a 16MP shooter.

Battery

Battery Capacity: Li-Po 5000mAh

A Li-Po 5000mAh battery keeps the lights on the OPPO A98. It’s also said to support 67W fast charging. If it does sport this feature, the A98 should last a day or two and should charge up to 100% in 33 minutes.

Online Price in Kenya

The OPPO A98 is expected to launch in November. However, when it does, it should have a price tag of Ksh. 43,999.
