First Impressions
The first thing you will probably notice about the Reno5 is the design of the smartphone. The Reno smartphone range has always been about exquisite design and OPPO didn’t drop the ball on this one.
The smartphone packs a gorgeous urbane design that gives it a premium look and feels just right after unboxing the smartphone. I happen to have the color suitably named as “Fantasy Silver” but the smartphone is also available in a dark “Starry Black” color variant.
When you turn on the smartphone the other highlight of the smartphone comes alive. The Reno5 packs a gorgeous 6.43 inches AMOLED display.
Smartphone displays aren’t created equal, there is an objective reason why one display will look gorgeous and attractive to the eyeballs while another one will appear dull, the kind that will ruin your day by just looking at it.
One of the main reasons why the OPPO Reno5 display pops up is that it’s an AMOLED display. AMOLED display are pretty great, they are lively and render the colors in a magnificent way that is often different from technologies such as IPS or worse, TFT.
The other reason, which is a more modern reason is that the Reno5 display has a 90Hz refresh rate. On an absolute standard, a higher display refresh rate will result to a better viewing experience. If you are interested to know about the nitty-gritty of refresh rates, I refer you to this video.
The other noteworthy thing is the software of the smartphone. The OPPO Reno5 comes with Android 11 out of the box and this is great because it’s always an advantage to run the latest version of Android. In addition to this, the smartphone has OPPO’s color OS v.11 customization on top of the OS.
One more thing, the Reno5 supports 50W Flash charging. This is important because in ideal conditions, that charging speed can charge a battery from 0% to 100% in under 50 minutes.
Availability and Pricing
The Reno5 should be available in Kenya before the end of February. The smartphone has a suggested retail price of Ksh. 41,999.
