While Xiaomi has a myriad of smartphones, it hasn’t forgotten about its vanilla series, the company’s budget range. Today, the Redmi 10 was launched and is expected to make its way to other markets in the coming weeks.
The Redmi 9 successor comes with a ton of improvements bringing updated features all around. It’s worth noting the Redmi 10 is the first smartphone in the series to come with a higher refresh rate that can run up to 90Hz. It pairs perfectly with the large 6.5” 1080p punch-hole LCD.
It’s also the first smartphone to come equipped with the new Helio G88 chipset from MediaTek, which ideally, is a modified version of the G85 to accommodate the higher display specs.
And if you thought that’s where it all ends, it’s not. The Redmi 10 comes with a 50MP main lens, the highest resolution camera yet (Redmi Notes go higher, but are more expensive).

The lens is coupled with an 8MP ultrawide camera, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. Inside the punch hole is an 8MP cam for all your selfies and video calls.
As for battery life, a 5000mAh battery that supports 18W charging keeps the lights on the device. The base Redmi 10 comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage and runs Android 11 out of the box.
No details on a Pro model or other variations yet. Xiaomi says the handset starts from $179 which is roughly Ksh. 19,600.
