Xiaomi has officially unveiled a new wireless stand that supports up to 100W fast charging. The new charger is a beefed-up version of the Mi 80W wireless charging stand launched last year.

The two are nearly identical and phones can be placed either vertically or horizontally to charge. This newer model comes in black color with a gold accent.

On the inside, the pair seem to be fairly similar as it still features the dual-coil design and dynamic fan that kicks in when needed. In fact, it even comes with the same 120W charger and 6A USB cable.

The only slight difference is that the newer model has an additional protection layer of current calibration. The stand is scheduled to go on sale in China for right around $92. No details on global availability yet.

Now, I know what you’re wondering. Why would Xiaomi manufacture a new wireless charger when the existing one works just fine? Added to the fact that the fastest wireless charging phones it has in the market all max out at 67W fast charging.

The company does claim, however, that the Mi MIX 4 with a 4,500mAh battery and 50W wireless charging support can charge fully within 28 minutes using the new Mi 100W Wireless Charging Stand.

Still, it’s not a big enough reason for Xiaomi to consider making the 100W charging stand. We could be missing something here but, we hope Xiaomi does not depreciate the 80W model.
