Google announced in August that its next smartphone, the Pixel 6, would be ditching Snapdragon chips for an in-house design chip dubbed Tensor.
As the launch approaches, Qualcomm couldn’t help but throw a bit of shade in the form of a red flag meme on Twitter at Google’s Tensor chip.
The red flag meme started on Twitter as a dating joke for “warning signs” (otherwise known as red flags), but has since evolved to the point where it can apply to almost anything.
Qualcomm came up with this questionable take on the meme, implying Google’s choice to swap out the Snapdragon for the Tensor was a poor decision.

The reality is, most Pixel users see the Tensor as something that brings exciting improvements to the device. Google showed off the benefits of the in-house chip designed to make AI and machine learning processes more efficient.

The Pixel 6 could correct blurry photos, shoot better videos and accurately transcribe speech to text- all courtesy of the new Tensor chip.
Twitter users, as usual, were quick to hand it out to Qualcomm by posting scathing replies. They pointed out that, thanks to Tensor, Pixel users will no longer have to deal with limited support periods that come with Snapdragon chipsets.
It’s surprising to actually see Qualcomm make fun of Tensor in the first place. The Pixel series makes just a tiny portion of Android phones in the US and the world in general, so Qualcomm doesn’t have that much to lose in the short term.
