Even though Xiaomi had just launched the Redmi Note 11 series globally in February this year, the company seems to be gearing up to launch its next device in the lineup sooner rather than later.
Coming from Redmi CEO, Lu Weibing, Lu posted a teaser photo hinting the company’s announcement for a Redmi Note 12 series launch expected soon. He further added the Note 12 series will pack significantly better performance specs than its predecessor, the Note 11.
Since 2021, the Redmi brand has been launching two Redmi Note series smartphones a year. Starting with the Redmi Note 10 series launched in H1 2021 followed by the Note 11 series launched and released in H2 2021.
Apparently, the main reason for this is that the Note 10 series was more “performance-based” and was meant to cater to the audience that valued responsiveness above all else, whereas the more fashionable Note 11 series was predominantly centered on design and camera capabilities.
Based on this pattern we can expect a faster performing Redmi Note 12 in H1 2022 and a good-looking camera-centric Redmi Note 13 series later on.
The company is also taking attention to the feedback from fans to change the series naming scheme (it has gotten a bit confusing with the company’s launching strategy.)
As a result, the Redmi brand is currently open to suggestions from fans on what the name of its next “Redmi Note” series will be. The Redmi Note 12 series is expected to be announced in May or June 2022, hopefully with a different name.
