Despite WhatsApp being one of the most popular messaging apps out there, it still lags in terms of rich features compared to reputable rivals like Telegram.
However, this situation is soon changing as the Meta-owned platform rolls out new features including message reactions, massive file transfers, and bigger groups.
WhatsApp said that these features would be coming soon and it appears today is the day. When reactions were first announced, Meta said you’d only be capable of using a few emojis and, that support for all emojis and skin tones would come around in the future.
For now, the emojis in use are Thumbs Up, Red Heart, Face with Tears of Joy, Face with Open Mouth, Crying Face, and Folded Hands. The reactions are a handy feature. If you want to show that a message made you laugh or sad, you can now do, without having to congest the group chat with many messages.
The platform has also increased the file transfer size limit from 100MBs to 2GB. WhatsApp groups’ capacity will also be doubling from 256 to 512 members. Although, the group feature is not yet currently available and is being ‘slowly’ rolled out.
To access these features, go to Google’s Play Store or Apple’s App Store and update to the latest version of WhatsApp.
