Twitter is in shambles; offices closed for the weekend

Elon-Musk-Twitter

Twitter has recently been making the headlines and not for exactly the best reasons. The company has just closed its offices until Monday, according to a statement from staff. No official reason was given for the abrupt closure, however, there are reports that too many people are quitting.

Since new CEO Elon Musk bought and took over, he’s made plans to make Twitter more financially stable by bringing a blue Verified tick to anyone willing to pay $8 a month. The workforce was also expected to be cut in half to minimize expenses.

Twitter staff had until this past Thursday to sign a pledge to work for “long hours at high intensity” or leave. Former employees went on to tweet around 74-90% of the workers chose to be compensated instead of returning to the office.

“I didn’t want to work for someone who threatened us over email multiple times about only ‘exceptional tweeps should work here’ when I was already working 60-70 hours weekly,” one former worker stated.

Later on, Musk was quoted saying “the best people are staying” and he isn’t “super worried”. What followed was his usual tweeting bender, making remarks that in order to make a small fortune on social media, you should start with a large one. He then went on to reveal Twitter hit a new all-time high in usage.

He lastly posted a picture of a grave meme depicting Twitter celebrating the death of Twitter.
