Google’s Android 12 is coming this year-most likely towards the end of 2021 if the company sticks to its usual schedule. We should expect to see several beta versions appearing within a few weeks.

Despite the fact that not everyone has Android 11 yet, leaks about Android 12 are already spreading fast and wide. Just recently, a series of leaked images from a Google document has given us a first look at the upcoming Android 12 update

The images show that the operating system will have a newly redesigned interface. As well as, a collection of new features.

One of the first things you notice is the in-depth theming system used that shows a sand color pulled from the similarly-hued dunes wallpaper. The same sand accent is used to color everything, from the search bar to widgets.

Speaking of widgets, it seems Android 12 could place a bigger emphasis on them. The little blocks let the user utilize app features without opening the software. A new conversation widget is on the way that highlights recent messages, missed calls, and activity statuses.

In terms of privacy, Google will alert users when the microphone or camera is active. A privacy setting page will let users “Disable camera”, “Mute microphone” and turn on/off location at a high-level.

Android 12 is also expected to have nearby-share for wi-fi passwords. Although given the early nature of the design leak, everything seen here could be subject to change. We’ll have to wait for the developer preview coming in a few weeks.
