The most common pain point with proprietary software is compatibility issues. However, word is that the OS is fully compatible with existing Android apps.
Huawei is not the first smartphone company to develop an in-house OS. Samsung has a couple of smartphones running Tizen, a mobile OS owned by the South Korean tech giant.
It will be interesting to see how ‘Hongmeng’ will perform and whether Huawei will be able to leverage its hold on the massive Chinese smartphone market to fasten the adoption of the OS.
