Huawei may be preparing a smartphone with an under-display camera and Audio Jack. Currently, ZTE is the only company commercially selling a smartphone with a selfie camera hidden under the display.
Samsung and OPPO have also been working on a solution while Google recently acquired a patent hinting the company has figured out a way to make it happen.
Now, Huawei is on its way to join them after patenting a smartphone with a UPC (Universal Product Code). The patent showcases several models with slight differences in rear camera positioning.
However, in all cases, the smartphone, likely to be a mid-ranger, presents an under-display camera and an Audio Jack on top.
Other features worth noting include a side-facing fingerprint scanner that also doubles as a power/lock key, which seems kind-off odd that Huawei didn’t patent for an in-display fingerprint scanner for the device.
Anyways, the device comes with three cameras, vertically aligned and an LED flash located right below them. A Type-C USB port sits at the bottom with the Huawei logo included on the back.
We still don’t know when and if the smartphone will be released globally but, the actual patent was filed with the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), which is not surprising considering China is Huawei’s only major market these days.
