Future Galaxy A smartphones could discard this camera sensor; report suggests

Samsung-A72-Display_Specifications

Samsung’s Galaxy A range is a crowd favorite not only for its performance in various segments but also for its exquisite camera technology. For most Galaxy A smartphones, the usual camera setup comprises three or four sensors, with the latter offered by Ultra and mid-range devices.

However, this approach could soon be changing as Samsung is looking to ditch one of the camera lenses. According to a report by the Elec, Samsung will be focused on fitting their Galaxy A devices with powerful primary, ultra-wide and macro sensors while discarding the depth lens altogether.

Apparently, the smartphone brand aims to strengthen core camera specs rather than focusing on the number of lenses. In this case, the depth sensor has been established to be used less significantly than its other viable lenses.

In addition to stepping up efforts on major cameras, the move is also targeted at cutting costs to make their phones more competitive in respective segments. The new models likely to adapt to this new setup include the Galaxy A24, A34, and A54, all expected to arrive in March and April 2023.

That said, current A series smartphones sport quad-camera setups. They are also some of the best Android phones in the market right now. For instance, the Galaxy A23 is a solid choice for someone looking to purchase an affordable phone with exceptional performance capabilities.
