Just a few weeks ago, OnePlus launched their cheapest handset yet, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G-in the series and it appears the company is gearing up to launch another one.

OnePlus is now being tipped to launch the OnePlus Nord 2 5G, expected to succeed the OnePlus Nord that was launched in July last year.

Today, the Shenzhen-based company released a press release stating that it has teamed up with MediaTek to bring the Dimensity 1200-AI SoC to the Nord 2 5G. The flagship chipset from the Taiwanese maker is quite good as it easily rivals Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865+ and 870.

The chipset could clock up to 3.0Ghz alongside ARM’s Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. If anything, we’re looking at a pretty massive performance jump on the next Nord phone that will improve photography experience, enhance the display, and lower response times when gaming.

And that’s not all, the device comes with AI Photo Enhancement mode that recognizes up to 22 different scenarios and applies the best settings for them, including optimal settings for night time and other low light shots.

While the officially confirmed spec is the 1200-AI chip, the Nord 2 has been speculated to come with a 6.53-inch 90Hz 1080p AMOLED display and 4500mAh battery with fast charging.

As for optics, we expect Sony’s 50MP IMX766 sensor with an ultra-wide lens and depth sensor on the back, plus a 32MP selfie camera. According to the latest info, the Nord 2 will launch on July 22. Past leaks have hinted at a July 24 launch but things should get clearer in the coming days.
