The A9 2020 is the latest OPPO smartphone to hit the Kenyan market. The OPPO A9 2020 packs an impressive overall technical profile with the unique selling points of the smartphone being on its camera and performance profile.
OPPO provided me with a unit of the A9 2020 and here is my first impressions of the device and my thoughts about what I think about the smartphone.

My first impressions of the OPPO A9 2020 were generally positive. OPPO knows how to make gorgeous devices and true to this mantra, the A9 2020 could easily be the best designed smartphone in the mid-range price category.
One of the things that I totally liked about the A9 2020 is the performance profile. The smartphone completely exceeded my expectations about its performance. It was able to run all the resource intensive applications I threw at it, this is from graphic intensive games such as PUBG to the Adobe suite of multimedia Android apps.
The stellar performance of the device is probably due to the Snapdragon 665 chipset and the 8GB RAM that powers the smartphones. It’s an awesome set-up and the A9 2020 is one of the few mid-range smartphones that comes with 8GB RAM.
The A9 2020 has a compact design profile that looks and feels really good. The back design is all glossy and it’s probably the first thing you will notice about the smartphone.
The cameras are neatly placed at the upper mid-section of the back camera and the placement gives you an early insight that this is a camera-centric device.
The A9 2020 packs a decent 6.5-inch IPS LCD display. The display size is just right and the standard size for devices in the price category. However, what I liked about the display size is that it’s not all about size but also has a bit sophistication. Outdoor visibility is impressive and I was able to get a decent display experience even under direct sunlight, which was awesome.
Let’s talk a bit about the camera. The OPPO A9 2020 packs a rather sophisticated camera profile. The smartphone has a quad-camera set-up. You get the main 48MP camera, an 8MP wide-angle lens and two lenses that provide artistic portrait effects. The performance of the camera is quite good and I was able to get some decent point and shoot shots.

The other noteworthy-bit is about the battery performance of the smartphone.
The OPPO A9 2020 packs a large 5000mAh battery. The battery is quite big and i was easily able to squeeze 48 hours from the smartphone, which was quite awesome considering the dismal performance that I have been getting with some mid-range Android devices.
Overall, the OPPO A9 (2020) is quite an awesome smartphone and I totally enjoyed using the device and is one of those devices that you can easily recommend.
