The Chinese smartphone brand, realme has grown to be a fierce competitor in the Kenyan smartphone market. Counterpoint Research ranked them 7th with an annual growth of 157% and recorded 50 million units sold and shipped off during the 3rd quarter of 2020.
Realme made their debut in 2020, with a record release of more than six devices and are aiming even higher with a 30% increase in sales in 2021.
“This year, we shall focus on continuously enriching our products and providing suitable young and trendsetting options to our users in Kenya. We shall capitalize on the synchronization of our brand, terminal, and sales,” said Mildred Agoya, Marketing Director, realme Kenya.

It seems the smartphone brand plans for more releases tailored to the needs of Kenyan millennials to give them value for both money and comfortability. In 2020, realme launched the realme C3, realme 6, realme 7i, realme C11, realme C15, Buds Q, and Buds Air Neo within 4 months.
We still don’t know what realme has in store for us but most probably they will release 2021 updates to the smartphones and accessories mentioned above. The company also mentioned they will focus on the promotion of cost-effective products such as the C-series.
So, it is safe to say we can expect more affordable smartphones such as the C- series from realme.
