Samsung to place significant focus on the budget Galaxy A range; here’s why

Samsung-Galaxy-A-series

In Q4 2020, Samsung ranked second in terms of smartphone production while Apple reigned dominant in first place. Things are about to get a bit different, however, as market research firm TrendForce estimate that the company will dethrone Apple and take the lead in Q1 2021.

According to reports, Samsung manufactured and shipped around 62-67 million smartphones in Q4 2020, and is still expected to manufacture around 62 million smartphones in Q1 2021. As a result, Samsung will still maintain its production volume from the previous quarter.

Apple’s Q1 2021 production volume, on the other hand, has been estimated to be around 54 million iPhones by the same research firm which is 23.6 million fewer phones compared to their Q4 2020 production. Compared to Samsung’s Q1 2021 estimated production, these are 8 million fewer smartphones.

So, why is Samsung’s production higher?

For starters, their secret weapon is the anticipated Galaxy A line-up which they say is their best chance at competing against rival Chinese brands.

And they will beat them considering the whole Galaxy A line-up fits most markets. The Galaxy A32 is a nice budget smartphone with a 90Hz display and the A32 5G is the most affordable 5G smartphone they have. The Galaxy A52 is shaping up to be one of the best mid-rangers in 2021 and the Galaxy A72 and A82 are not far from release.
