The Galaxy S series has historically been at the apex of the Android offering and the latest smartphone often sets the standards as to what should constitute a premium flagship smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 has a suggested retail price of Ksh. 95,999 in Kenya.

Display

Display Size: 6.1 inches

Display Type: Super AMOLED

Screen Resolution: 1440 x 3040 pixels

Screen Resolution Density:

Screen Protection: Corning Gorilla Glass 6

The Samsung Galaxy S10 packs a 6.1-inch Super AMOLED display. Samsung makes awesome displays and thus you can expect nothing but a stellar viewing experience with the Galaxy S10.

The smartphone packs a 1440 x 3040 pixels resolution, this is among the highest display resolution you can find on flagship smartphones around. To top it all, a Corning Gorilla Glass 6 layer covers the display to give the smartphone and extra layer of protection.

Still on the display, the S10 will be the first flagship smartphone to feature a display cut-out for the selfie camera. Samsung avoided the notch trend on its flagship and this has finally paid off through the use of the innovate display cut-out feature.

Design

Weight: 157g

Performance

Operating System: Android 9.0 (Pie)

CPU: 2.8 GHz Octa-core

RAM: 6/8 GB

Internal Memory: 512/128 GB

Micro SD: Yes, up to 512 GB

It was largely expected that Galaxy S10 will feature an ultra-powerful performance profile. Samsung did not disappoint.

A 2.8 GHz Octa-core chipset powers the Samsung Galaxy S10 and this is coupled with either 6 or 8 GB as RAM. One noteworthy bit about the CPU is that it comes in two variants. The US and China region will have the CPU made by Qualcomm while the Europe, Middle East and African regions will have the Samsung-made Exynos chipset.

There should be a reason why this is so. I don’t have that reason at the moment, but I guess something about it will come up once we have all the finer details about the smartphone.

About internal memory, the Galaxy S10 will be available in two capacities, 128 or 512 GB. The 128 GB version comes with 6 gigs of RAM while the 512GB variant comes with an impressive 8GB of RAM.

In addition to this, the S10 packs a memory card slot that supports up to 512 GB of memory. This means when fully loaded, the S10 can pack 1TB of accumulated storage, a capacity that leaked a coupled of months ago.

On the software side, the S10 runs Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. It had to run Android Pie as it would have been an atrocity if it ran an outdated version of Android as we have seen with some recently launched budget smartphones.

Camera

Rear Camera: 12+12+16 MP

Secondary Camera: 10 MP

LED Flash: Yes

Samsung gave the Galaxy S10 the triple camera treatment. The smartphone therefore, come with three rear cameras a 12 + 12 + 16 MP camera set up for general photography and a 10 MP camera for your selfies.

Battery and Extras

Battery Capacity: Li-Ion 3400 mAh

A Li-ion 3400 mAh keeps the lights on.
