Huawei has moved up one position and is now ranked the second largest smartphone brand in the world. This is according to recent smartphone shipment tracker reports from Canalys and IDC.
Huawei shipped 54 million smartphones in the second quarter of 2018 giving the company a 15.8% market share.
Apple shipped 41.3 million devices over the same period while Samsung (ranked number 1) shipped 73 million units over the same period.
The performance of the Huawei was primary due to the sales of its two flagship smartphones, the P20 and P20 Pro. Locally, the company launched the Huawei Y7 Prime and Y5, two budget devices that have also performed quite well.
The other notable smartphone vendors in the report, include Xiaomi and Oppo that have a 9.3 and 8.6 marker share respectively.
