The Techno L3 is another interesting addition by the Chinese handset manufacturer. Techno Mobile is steadily changing the tides in numerous developing Smartphone markets such as Nigeria and Kenya.Techno mobile is selling the Techno L3 under the banner of affordability.
Techno puts it as ‘taking the smart life’ to the masses. Devices such as the Techno L3 and the hot selling Techno S5, will be pivotal in making Techno mobile a principal player in the mid and entry level Smartphone scene.
Let’s get down to the specs. Here is a review of the Techno L3.
Display
The Techno L3 has a 3.5 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen with a max resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. The display has a resolution density of 165 ppi. This is by the way impressive considering that the popular Samsung Galaxy Young has a 133-ppi resolution density.
As it is the norm with most entry-level handsets, the Techno L3 lacks any form of screen protection. However, you may receive a free screen protector as part of the Techno Freebie bundle, but this depends with the dealer location.
Body and Design
The Techno L3 comes in a compact 118 x 63 x 12.9mm frame. The all-plastic construction makes the Techno L3 feather weighted. However, the downside is that the rear cover is a magnet for scratches and smudges. The design of the Techno L3 looks a lot like that of the Techno M5.
Technical Specifications
On the Tech stats, The Techno L3 has a 1.0 GHz Single Core CPU plus 512 MB of RAM. This is a disappointment considering that most entry-level handsets now have at least a Dual core processor. From my tests, Apps run smoothly, but there is an occasional lag while switching between running Apps.
The Techno L3 will therefore run ‘light’ apps flawlessly, but ‘struggle’ in running intensive apps.
Just like the Techno S5, the Techno L3 has 4GB internal memory and a card slot that can handle up to a 32GB memory card.
The Techno L3 runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box. From my experience, running the Jellybean OS on a Single core processor is just a terrible idea. However, flipping the coin, it is awesome in the sense that the device will have the latest features of the Jelly Bean OS.
On the connectivity aspects, The Techno L3 can handle speeds of up to 22.2 Mbps on the 3G network. Additionally, the Techno L3 has Wifi, Wi-Fi Direct, a Wi-Fi hotspot feature plus Bluetooth version 4.0.
Multimedia
The Techno L3 has a 3 MP rear camera that can snap images at a maximum resolution of up to 2048×1536 pixels. It is worthwhile to note that the handset comes with an LED flash to ‘lighten up’ your dark scenes.
In addition to that, the Techno L3 also has a 0.3 MP front facing snapper for self-shots and video calls.
Battery Life
Below the rear cover, lies a 2400 mAh Li-Po battery. This is one of the standout features of the Techno L3. It is extremely rare to find a battery of such capacity in an entry-level device. Battery stamina therefore, is way above average.
Tech Trends Diary Verdict
The Techno L3 is by the looks a handset made specifically for Africa. I say this in the context of average Tech Specs but a completely awesome Battery experience.
The Techno L3 therefore gives you a glimpse of the ‘smart life’. At the same time, it is a sort of reminiscence of the larger than life battery stamina that is characteristic of feature phones.
