Tecno P5 is a sequel of the popular Tecno D5 Smartphone. The P5 is part of a lineup of low cost handsets by Tecno Mobile that seeks to boost the market share of the Chinese Tech Company.
Tecno by default has Africa has its Target market and the device posted some decent sales figures in Kenya and Nigeria.
The Tecno P5 comes with an executive frame and is in the mid range Smartphone category.
Here is a full technical strip down of the Tecno P5 handset.
Display
The Tecno P5 comes with a 4.0-inch Capacitive TFT Display and has a maximum resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.
Additionally, the Tecno P5 has a solid 233-ppi resolution density.
This by the way exceeds the 219-ppi resolution density found on the Nokia Lumia 520 and the Nokia Lumia 720 handsets.
Body and Design
The Tecno P5 comes in a 124.3 x 65.5x 10.5 mm all-plastic frame.
The svelte design and the round vertexes make the phone feel good in your palms.
There is a chrome-like rim all-round the frame, this works well at giving the device a premium look.
Technical Specifications
A 1 GHz Dual-core CPU backed by 512MB of RAM powers the Tecno P5. These specs bear a close similarity to those found on the Tecno L3.
The only difference is that Tecno replaced the Single Core CPU with an efficient Dual Core CPU.
The 512 MB of RAM on the device seems out of place. It would have been in order for the Tecno P5 to have at least 1GB of RAM.
The 1 GHz CPU, however, performs extremely well, but there is an occasion lag, especially while on heavy system load.
The Tecno P5 comes with 4GB of internal memory and the card slot can support a max of 32GB MicroSD memory.
The Tecno P5 runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. Apart from that, expect the typical connectivity features i.e. Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot and Bluetooth.
Multimedia
Just like the Tecno S5, the Techo P5 has a 5MP rear snapper plus an LED flash. The Tecno P5 camera can capture images at a maximum resolution of 2560×1920.
Another interesting bit is that, the Tecno P5 has a 2MP Front facing camera. This flagship grade feature is rare in most mid-tier level handsets.
Battery Life
The Tecno P5 has an 1800 mAh Li-Ion battery. This is a couple of units below the Tecno L3 handset.
However, this should not hurt your feelings as Tecno includes a complimentary power bank for each Tecno P5 purchase.
Tech Trends Diary Verdict
The Tecno P5 ‘prettier’ surrogate of the Tecno L3 handset.
I say this inclined to the significant beautiful design and the slightly powerful CPU.
Nonetheless, to cut on the costs, the Tecno P5 has a less powerful battery.
If the aesthetics of a device rank high on your priority list, the Tecno P5 is a budget phone you should consider.
