TECNO has officially made a debut to the top 10 smartphone vendor list. This is according to the Counterpoint Research: Quarterly Market Monitor Q2 2018 report.
The Chinese smartphone vendor is ranked number 10 in the list and Counterpoint Research estimates that it owns 1% of the global smartphone market.
The performance of the brand is a noteworthy achievement considering that the company has presence mostly in Africa and the Middle East while the others on the list are global brands with presence in multiple continents.
TECNO also reported an impressive 59% year on year growth, which is the second highest in Q2 2018. In comparison, Samsung (ranked #1) reported a 11% drop in its YoY growth over the same period.
TECNO is part of the larger TRANSSION group. The Counterpoint Research Report estimates that the brand together with its affiliates (Infinix and Itel) accounted for over 9.2 million smartphones shipped during Q2 2018.
TECNO has repositioned itself as a premier smartphone brand and has so far released a number of smartphones in the Kenyan market that include the Camon X and Spark 2.
