WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will allow you to add a voice message to your status. The voice note shared as a status dubbed “Voice Status” is currently under testing according to a report by feature tracker WABetainfo.
Currently, the Meta platform only allows you to post photos, videos, GIFs, and text notes. With this new feature, users can record a voice note typically and share it with their status viewers or in this case listeners.
Below we can see a screenshot obtained from the feature tracker demonstrating the functionality of the voice note support in status.
The report also suggests the voice status feature will be end-to-end encrypted, that is, just like uploaded videos and photos, only user-selected individuals will access the shared voice note.
It’s worth noting that it is still in beta, and it’s uncertain when and if it will be made available. However, it’s quite a nifty little quirk adding to the several utilities of the platform. Be sure to stay tuned for updates regarding any changes on the hopefully upcoming feature.
